vinyl crate
My aunt M and uncle J have recently given me a large collection of vinyl records from the 70s, 80s, and 90s that belonged to friends of theirs who no longer wanted them. I've been collecting vinyl for quite some time. Funny enough, I have not really spent a lot of time with albums like these so here I am sorting through them, listening to each, and deciding which I'd like to keep.

| R.E.M. | The One I Love | 7" | The A side of this is sick. The B side, a solo live recording of Maps and Legends, is bizarre, and not a really great performance in my opinion. The vinyl itself is also a little damaged so it doesn't sound that great. If both sides were as awesome as side A I would definitely want to keep. | Yes | Maybe |
| Simple Minds | Sanctify Yourself | 7" | I've never heard of this before. Going in totally blind. I feel like this is kinda sick? The chorus is a bit schmatlzy and cheesy synth sounds for me. I don't hate it. B-side is a dub version of the same song. The isolated guitar in the dub version is actually really sick and maybe better than the original track? | Pink Floyd | The Wall | 12" | I find this one significantly less interesting than The Dark Side of the Moon. It's bloated. The solos are more indulgent. It feels kind of bloated. The singles are obviously undeniable classies: Another Brick in the Wall Pt.2 and Goodbye Blue Sky being my favorite, probably. Kind of disappointed by this one to be honest. The vocals on this thing are often really shakey. | Yes | Maybe |
| The Clash | Combat Rock | 12" | Immediate keeper. I love The Clash. I think I prefer their earlier work by just a hair but Rock the Casbah, Should I Stay or Should I Go, and Straight to Hell? C'mon. Greats. | Yes | Yes |
| David Bowie | Stage | 12" | Live performances of Bowie in the 70s. I'm not really super familiar with this era of his work. I think it's generally pretty good. It's crazy how much Fame carries the first half of this record for me though. There are some instrumental songs on this that I find to be quite captivating. It's fun. I don't love it but I don't mind it. | Yes | Yes |
| David Bowie | Let's Dance | 12" | Good quality record. The songs on this thing are just so breezy and effortless (for the most part). It's a lot of fun to listen to. I think Just Dance might be one of my favoirite Bowie songs. It's worth keeping it just for that. | Yes | Yes |
